'N Surrection Conference Planned

The Stillman College Student Government Association and Historical Association will be presenting the "N" Surrection Conference on February 22-25, 2007. The conference will be centered on presentations from various speakers. The "N" word will be tackled through intelligent dialogue and a thorough examination of Black History. The conference will offer insight on the controversial "N" word and the word will be investigated in the context of American and African-American Histories.

The purpose for the conference is to educate the community about historical and social implications of the "N" word and its contemporary cultural influences. Several events will be going on such as group workshops, entertainment, Celebrity Greek All-Star Basketball Tournament, Community March, and a Community Fair. Local vendors will have designated areas on campus to vend items. The entire Tuscaloosa Community is invited. The Conference will be concluded on Sunday with a worship service at Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church.

On Thursday, Feb. 22 at 1pm the conference will start with a Miseducatio 'N' dialogue session on the historical meaning and origins of the "N" Word. The next dialogue will be Ni**a versus Ni**er this session will deal with the controversy of both words at 2:30pm.

On Friday, Feb. 23 at 10am the Applied Willie Ly'N'ch Theory will be in session. The Black State of the Unio'N' Address will be at 11am. The Conference Luncheon will be at 12noon, the price will be $4 for Non-Conference Presenters. The Double Sta'N'dards dialogue will be at 2pm. The 'N'Tertainment session will be at 3pm. The Nsurrection Celebrity Greek All-Star Basketball Tournament will begin at 7pm in the Birthright Auditorium; the cost of the tickets are $5 in Advance and $8 Day of Event.

On Saturday, Feb. 24 there will be a One Voice, One Community March for Solidarity starting at Stillman College and in tribute to Black History Month. The Stillman College Student Government Association will march against the growing nationwide tide of racial intolerability and to promote solidarity within the Tuscaloosa Community. The One Voice, One Community Fair will be at 12noon the cost is free; there will be live music/entertainment performances, local business vendors, and fun for the entire Tuscaloosa Community.

On Sunday, Feb. 25 at 11am the Reverend Gregory J. Bentley, will speak on "What's 'N' A Name?" at Brown Memorial Church located at 3535 Stillman Blvd.
